Different Corners

Different Corners” is a collaborative concert project focused around new perspectives and approaches to “traditional” music. Over the summer 3 experimental musicians, Ben Wheeler, Tete Noise, and Vazhmarr, have been working with 2 Kakhetian folk ensembles (Pankisi Ensemble and Telavi Ensemble) to create a unique presentation: folk songs will be performed in special sequence, each song followed by an experimental composition derived from the traditional song’s musical elements. All the performers will be together on the stage, performing from different corners, presenting different perspectives on a single composition, in order to emphasis the importance of tradition, preservation, collaboration, and the potential for creativity inherent in these songs.
